Wanstead Library, which is currently closed for refurbishment, is scheduled to reopen in late June or early July.

The improvement works taking place include a 'thorough redecoration', the installation of new furniture and shelving and a number of repairs, including a new floor throughout the venue.

"We know people care deeply about their libraries and, of course, we'll endeavour to open Wanstead Library as soon as we can," said Councillor Sheila Bain.

The library's adjoining hall – used for meetings and events – is unaffected by the closure.
