Wanstead Park's Temple will be hosting a Roman-themed display during the visitor centre's first open weekend of 2019 on 5 and 6 January (10am to 3pm; donations welcome).

"When the Romans came to Wanstead, which God did they celebrate? And who was the Roman god of New Year? Find out at this exhibition," said Gill James of the Friends of Wanstead Parklands, which is supporting the event.

Visitors can also try their hand at the Greco-Roman board game tabula.
