What the fire revealed: archaeology on Wanstead Flats

This month, local historians Mark Gorman and Peter Williams will be discussing the archaeological finds made on Wanstead Flats following the July 2018 fire.

"The fire stripped a large area of vegetation... Also, to help the firefighters damp down, the City of London brought in a farm implement to open up the topsoil. The effect was to uncover some World War Two archaeology," said Peter.

The presentation will take place in Wanstead Park's Temple on 27 January from 1pm (£3; booking required).
