McCarty & Smith Ltd are specialists in the restoration and upgrading of period windows and provide Original Character with Modern Performance.

When making new sashes we do so in Accoya and where possible we restore the existing box to minimize distruption.
We glaze timber sashes with a minimum sealed unit thickness of 20mm and usually able to use a 24mm unit with a 16mm cavity.
We have internal beading for security, ease of servicing and most importantly so the the external molding mimics a traditional putty profile, with no shadow gap to retain the character of the original windows.
We can sometimes alter your existing period timber frames and install sealed units into them. This is the product that we have supplied at the Corner House in Wanstead High Street where we have upgraded the original sash windows to double glazed units in the original restored frames.
All our glazing complies with BS6262-4 glazing for buildings code of practice for safety related to human impact.
